Use it or lose it – why website

usability is critical

Website usability refers to how easy and logical a website is to use. You can have compelling content and a great looking design but if your website isn’t user friendly, visitors will find it frustrating and leave – and never come back again!

The end user of your website needs to be kept in mind at all times. We do that by first understanding who your target market is and how they act and think. Once we have that information we can then plan and construct the site to make sure that they find it intuitive and easy to use.

There are 4 key areas we consider in relation to website usability:

1.    Conventions
Whether people know it or not, they expect certain things to be in certain locations,
certain actions to provide certain behaviours and things to look a certain way

2.    Structure
A website needs to be structured the way a visitor thinks and not based
on how you talk about the products/services internally.

3.    Design
It’s important to use design elements consistently and colour effectively

4.    Functionality
Visitors need to be able to easily perform their desired tasks
